We are seeking a meticulous and proactive Procurement Officer to join one of Newcastle’s most reputable employers on a one-year contract. This role is essential in ensuring compliance with procurement procedures, mitigating business risks, and upholding governance standards. You will play a key role in managing procurement processes, ensuring they align with company policies, and contributing to the organisation’s overall risk management strategy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Procedure Compliance: Develop, implement, and enforce procurement policies and procedures that align with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Risk Mitigation: Identify potential business risks related to procurement activities and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Governance: Ensure all procurement activities adhere to governance standards, including ethical sourcing and supplier compliance.
  • Supplier Management: Establish and maintain robust relationships with suppliers to secure favorable terms and service level agreements.
  • Market Analysis: Conduct market research to stay informed about trends, pricing, and best practices in procurement.
  • Reporting: Accurately report and analyze procurement data, identifying opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand procurement needs and ensure alignment with organizational objectives.

Requirements:

  • A relevant qualification in business management, procurement, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience in procurement within the professional services sector.
  • Strong understanding of procurement procedures, governance, and risk management.
  • Proven ability to manage supplier relationships and negotiate contracts effectively.
  • Experience with procurement software and data management systems.
  • Analytical skills for interpreting procurement data and making informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
