Senior Design Engineer – Electrical

Seeking Electrical Design Engineer with HV systems experience for hands-on role in mining/industry. CPEng/RPEQ. Client-focused, technical role.

We’re seeking an experienced Electrical Design Engineer with a strong background in power systems and high-voltage switchboards, ideally within the mining or heavy industrial sectors. This is a technically focused role, with an emphasis on client interaction, design ownership, and delivering compliant, reliable systems.
 
About the Role

You’ll join an established engineering team, taking responsibility for the design and delivery of HV, MV, and LV systems from concept through to commissioning. The position involves regular communication with clients, so experience in stakeholder engagement—particularly within mining or industrial environments—is essential.

The role is well-suited to someone who is CPEng or RPEQ accredited, or actively working towards those qualifications. You’ll be stepping into a role where your technical decisions will influence project outcomes, and your ability to engage with industry professionals will be a key asset.
 
Key Responsibilities

• Develop and deliver electrical designs for HV, MV, and LV systems, including protection and control systems.
• Produce detailed drawings, schematics, and documentation using AutoCAD or similar tools.
• Engage directly with clients to understand operational requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
• Ensure all designs meet Australian electrical standards and safety regulations.
• Provide input throughout the design, manufacturing, and commissioning phases.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines and project teams to meet delivery timelines and project goals.
• Support the improvement of design processes and mentor less experienced engineers where appropriate.

 
What We’re Looking For

• Recognised degree in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent).
• 5+ years of experience in electrical design, preferably in mining, infrastructure, or heavy industry.
• Strong knowledge of power system design, particularly HV switchboards and protection systems.
• Confident in client-facing settings, with the ability to clearly communicate technical details.
• Familiar with Australian electrical codes and standards.
• Proficient in AutoCAD or equivalent software.
• CPEng and/or RPEQ accreditation .
