Principal Acoustics Manager
Verve Partners are proud to support a long-time client of ours, a respected local consultancy with a strong reputation for technical excellence, with the hiring of a Principal Acoustics Manager to lead and grow their Newcastle-based team.
Reporting directly to senior leadership, you’ll take ownership of the Acoustics function guiding project delivery, mentoring a capable team, strengthening systems, and driving sustainable commercial performance.
An opportunity to shape the direction of the department in a hands-on leadership role that blends technical oversight, people development, financial accountability, and client engagement.
You’ll be an experienced technical professional with leadership capability, able to step confidently into a role that requires accountability, communication, and commercial awareness.
In this role you will be responsible for:
- Lead project delivery including proposal review, technical oversight, reporting quality and client liaison
- Manage complex projects from planning through to completion — ensuring timeliness, profitability and high client satisfaction
- Monitor project budgets, scheduling and resource allocation across the department
- Provide mentorship, performance feedback and professional development pathways for team members
- Foster a positive, collaborative culture that supports engagement, retention and morale
- Oversee departmental financial performance including budgeting, invoicing and monthly reporting
- Strengthen client relationships and contribute to business development and growth initiatives
- Maintain quality systems, compliance standards and WHS practices within the department
- Support continuous improvement across templates, processes and audit activities
You will ideally bring:
- Proven experience in acoustics consulting / technical project delivery
- Circa 7-10 years Acoustics Engineering Consulting experience
- Knowledge of NSW environmental legislation
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop a team
- Confidence liaising with clients and representing the business externally
- Sound commercial and project management understanding (budgets, timelines, profitability)
- A proactive mindset with strong time management and prioritisation skills
- Degree qualification in environmental science, physics or engineering
- Current drivers licence
